Incalmo Series

artist: Patrick Kerry Brown
This art glass form was created by joining a black and orange color cup incalmo. The subtleties are in the black where first a white thread was done, then black overlay and then olivine cane bundled murrini was added.
Incalmo is a glass process that involves constructing an object, usually a vessel, by fusing in-situ two or more glass blown elements. This process was first practiced in the Islamic world during the Middle Ages. It demands great precision as the edges of the two elements must be precisely the same in diameter.
